From the early morning light on the river, the silhouettes of fishermen on the breakwater etched against the dawn sky, the SolitaryIslands shimmering through a heat haze at midday or the panorama of the magnificent beach, Wooli has a habit of causing even the most prosaic observer to wax poetic.
It is paradise for creative spirits and many talented artists and photographers live in or visit Wooli. Their works in paint and mixed media were on display at the inaugural Wooli Artists Gathering Artshow and some are displayed for sale in local businesses. It is planned to hold the Artshow every year. Photographer Juliet Thomasson has taken literally thousands of unique and striking shots of Wooli ‘s many moods and her work is available in some local businesses. If you would like to purchase any of Juliet’s images please contact her at juliet.thomasson@gmail.com. Part-time resident Roger Welch, who frequently dives with Stan Young from the dive shop, has a large photograph portfolio of underwater creatures, captured during his many dives in the national marine park off the Solitaries. Photos have also been provided by Wooli resident Leone Coper, and Margy Hewetson from Wooli River Lodges. Many thanks to all concerned for this collection of images showing the outstanding beauty and diversity of this very special place.
