Wooli has long had an enthusiastic and capable artistic community. When the Protect Wooli campaign began in 2010, a group of those artists came together with the idea of using the community’s talents to raise funds for the campaign.
They formed the Wooli Artists Gathering (WAG) and set about organising an annual Wooli Art Show drawing entries from artists young and old, local and distant, amateur and experienced, expressing their skills in painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The common theme for all entries is “Inspired by the Coast”. This has revealed a wealth of creative talent from the Wooli community and further afield.
Each year, a percentage of art entry and sale revenue, ticket sales and raffles has been generously donated to CCPA.
So far this brilliant idea backed up by skilful organisation and community support has contributed almost $6000 to help protect Wooli. Long may it continue.
