Voting closes on August 15th and the NSW government will announce the results of the vote in September.
We all know the sorry state of Wooli’s beach access-ways, both the steep and damaged Geotech-bag variety (pictured) and the buried board-and-chain version. We also know Council lacks funds to fix the problem.
THE SOLUTION
It was therefore very welcome news to hear that the N.S.W government has recently established a fund (called “My Community Project“) which could be the answer.
Our application for this funding has been submitted, with Council as our Sponsor.
A SUCCESSFUL RESULT would provide safe and easy access for all Wooli beach goers,
regardless of age or abilities, by changing from this,
to something more like this.
In addition, ramps would be provided for the flatter access ways to encourage visitors in wheelchairs to enjoy the beach.
HOW YOU CAN HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN
There are two really important things you can do.
Firstly, cast your Vote for this project by following these instructions. Remember, we’re competing against a number of other projects so its really important that you make Wooli’s Beach Accesses your MOST PREFERRED project. If you need help, please see Bruce at the Post Office or Lyn at the Caltex shop.
Secondly, once you’ve voted, contact your family and friends, who live in the Clarence Valley and are 16 years or over, and ask them to vote for it too. Then just copy this page and send it to them.

The Wooli Artists Gathering (WAG) is again holding the Wild About Wooli Art Show. WAG, which was formed in November 2010, is composed of people connected with Wooli who are artists, or have an interest in art. The beauty and unique location of Wooli and its surrounding area have attracted many artists and stimulated people
to develop their artistic talents. However this growing collection of artists remained largely invisible. Prompted by the Protect Wooli campaign, it was thought important to draw positive attention to the value of Wooli, by collecting and widely promoting Wooli ‘s artist community. Those who attend meetings and express interest in the Gathering ‘s aims are members. There is no membership charge or criteria, except for involvement or interest in artistic endeavours. The exhibition has been held every year since 2011.
The 2019 Wild About Wooli Art Show will present exhibits of regional artists including paintings, works on paper, sculptures, textile art, mixed media and photography.
Our Picture Hanging Solutions are purchased from Shakespeare Solutions.
Ian Rees has once again generously provided the venue for the show at the Wooli Hotel Motel.

It opens with a cocktail party on Friday 19th of April 2019 at 6.30pm and continues on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of April.
Professionals and amateurs alike are welcome to exhibit – artists, photographers and those who like to experiment with other media.
Children ‘s works will also be displayed, so get painting, kids.
A People ‘s Choice prize will be awarded and there are prizes for various categories.
Last year ‘s exhibition was another resounding success and many sales were made.

As in previous years, a donation from proceeds will be made to CCPA-Wooli, the community-based group working with government to develop protection strategies for Wooli beach.

Since then the dunes have grown even more, thanks to a lot of work by our DuneCare group. But they’ve also 
taken some big hits from storms, particularly two major ones in June 2016. These cost the fore dune about half its sand and exposed the foot of the main dune in several places.
So a joint plan involving CCPA, Council and the State government is now well advanced for a “Beach Scraping” Project. This will bring the bulldozers back to, not only repair the damage, but also to build an increased buffer of sand better shaped to withstand storms. Ideally this will buy enough time for our CZMP’s longer term beach nourishment strategy to be implemented.
While the sand scraping project is clearly going to help protect Wooli, it’s to be expected that the community will have lots of questions about it. You can also get a printer-friendly version of these here on the Clarence Valley Council website.
